Thoughts On The Season 4 Finale of Vampire Diaries

Some people feel that this is a horrible ending, but on the contrary, I feel that this is an awesome ending because it was so unexpected. Stefan being Silas' doppelganger ? I'm pretty sure no one saw that coming. I was shocked out of my mind, I was just sitting there gapping at the screen.
Matt and Rebekah, I'm glad Rebekah finally found a companion, maybe now she can finally experience love and the warmth she's always been wanting to feel. She's become a better person and it's all because of Matt. From the prom episode, I've sort of guessed they would be together, so this new relationship wasn't much of a surprise. Speaking of relationships, I didn't expect Elena to choose Damon, I knew she would choose Damon but i just didn't expect it to be so soon I though she would make her decision somewhere along season 5.  Bonnie being dead is really tragic seeing as she's the witch in the main plot, if the vampires ever need some magical mojo they'll probably have to get a new witch, or will Bonnie return through another mean ? Seeing as how the dead characters always return to the show one way or another, i.e. Lexi and Alaric.
The doppelgänger fight was extremely cool, it just shows how good an actress Nina Dobrev is, it's probably not easy battling yourself. I'm glad Elena won but I'm pretty sad about the fact that Katherine turned human because she's such a sassy vampire and and way more interesting than Elena. Jeremy's alive and I couldn't be happier because he's my favourite character, apart from Katherine, and cos he's such a total eye candy.
All in all, this was an unexpected but clever ending, and it's definitely left fans greatly anticipating when the show picks up again in Season 5.

An Uncompleted Thesis

Fermented Tea, The Kombucha Culture

Microbial fermentation has been used by humans since as far back in time as the Neolithic period, about 10000 years BC. Our ancestors used fermentation to preserve perishable food as well as improve their nutritional qualities. However, our ancestors did not understand why it worked, just that it made their food taste better. With the development of science, scientists have been able to shed light on how microbial fermentation takes place. In recent years, this led to the discovery and use of Microbial Food Cultures in foodstuffs.

Microbial Food Cultures are bacteria, yeast or moulds that are used in food production. These Microbial Food Cultures are the agents that carry out fermentation in food products. An example of a food that is produced by microbial fermentation is fermented tea.

Fermented tea is produced by exposing un-fermented tea to open air fermentation. This process can take several months, or several years. The tea is exposed to microflora in the air, as well as humidity and oxygen. These microbials and elements causes the tea to undergo further oxidation through fermentation.

There is a type of fermented tea that is gaining popularity throughout Asia and some parts of Europe, this is the Kombucha. The process by which this tea is produced is known as the Kombucha culture.

I decided to switch topics while I got to the middle of this, and so I had to start all over with a new thesis. But I decided to post this on blog for the good of mankind, well, truth is I didn't want it to go to waste.

It's been a while since school started, and the homework, projects and assignments are piling up like mini-skyscrapers. It's gotten to the point where I couldn't even go to sleep one night. Spent hours trying to clear my head so I could enter limbo. This weekend might just be the perfect power-up to help me loosen up. But I can't let my mind go on vacation completely, seeing as I have more tests coming up, so I'll definitely be studying too.

I'm currently enjoying DJ mixes and mashups, I got inspired after watching the Pitch Perfect movie, and I found that they're a really refreshing change from listening to k-pop all the time. It doesn't mean I'll never listen to k-pop again, I'm just taking a break from it.

I have a maths test tomorrow, and I should reeeeeally be off doing some more revision. but I thought I'll come by to do a really quick update. Consider yourself warned, the following thing I'll talk about might gross you out. My mouth is in a hell lot of pain right now, I have a couple of really huge ulcers, they hurt so bad which makes it hard for me to talk. I'm chugging down a lot of Coke because Crystal told me (she heard it somewhere) that Coke helps to relieve the pain of ulcers. And it really helps ! The ulcers stopped hurting as bad, thanks Coke. When I was buying my bottle of Coke in school today, Tatiana noticed that I bought CocaCola Zero instead of the normal Coke,  she said (she heard it somewhere) that CocaCola Zero contains carcinogens that may lead to cancer. How much of that is true ? I don't really know. But this new realisation has made me think twice about purchasing more CocaCola Zero.
Me, Chinghui and Tatiana went to our school's jewelry/makeup/fashion store today. Isn't it so freaking awesome that we have this amazing store? Perfect for doing some retail therapy after being stressed out by school and studies. Anyways, I got a really pretty bracelet for $2. It's white with silver zebra print.

The bracelet

I've never been a fan of animal print, but for some reason I felt particularly drawn to this piece. It's like my whole life got screwed over by HIS departure. For example, I went and tried out (AND GOT IN) to DRAMA club, after my whole freshman year of not being a part of any school club.
My nail-painting skills have improved, weeeeeee ! I might not have to waste money going to a manicurist anymore, I can do my own mani-pedis ! I'm currently rocking my signature "poison nails". Emerald green polish that seems like a color the Wicked Witch would wear.
The thing about me is that when I experience some pain/trauma I would "go dark": wear dark nail polish, dark clothes, and turn the sarcasm and snarkism to a maximum. Basically portraying the Jade West character in the tv show Victorious. And coming off as a mega bitch.
I guess when I start rocking my "poison nails", it means I'm about to reach my critical point and start "going dark". This "going dark" thing is really helpful when I need to play an antagonistic character, but sometimes it REALLY pisses people off, even my friends. Oopsies.

Jade West

Moving on to my drama audition results, I GOT IN !! Practice starts this Wednesday, I can't wait ! It's gonna be so much fun ! Something else that I'm especially looking forward to, that is drama-related, but surprisingly in Biology class, is the roleplay that we're gonna have ! It's gonna be the BEST Biology class ever, I hope there's an antagonist character for me to play *fingers crossed* But I'll be able to handle a protagonist too, because to be an actor, you have to be diverse. If I can't   play Katherine (antagonist), I'll play Elena !! (protagonist, characters from The Vampire Diaries)
Plus it'll give my classmates a chance to see my acting skills, nah just kidding, I'm not THAT shallow, as far as you know *wink*

That is all I have for you today, I will be back with more updates real soon ! Gonna go study for my test, wish my luck !

After Hours

I went for my StageArts Drama audition today. It was so much fun, and I met a bunch of really cool and interesting people. Before the individual/pair auditions, we got to play a few icebreaker games. I found the 2 most challenging games to be Hole In The Chair and Good, Neutral, Bad. In Hole In The Chair, we had to pretend like we witness an imaginary scene through an imaginary hole. A lotta imagination going on there huh? When it was my turn, I went with a scene inspired by the Scream movies, I felt it gave me an opportunity to play an antagonist and a protagonist. I first acted as the masked killer, then the victim. I tried to do my best to portray the 2 roles limited to the amount of acting experience I have = NONE.
In Good, Neutral, Bad: We had to play 3 different characters each, 1 as a good person, very postive and optimistic, 1 as an indecisive person and 1 as an evil, antagonistic character. I felt I portrayed my evil character really well, it was just really easy for me to be mean, to let my "darker side" out and unleash all the sarcasm and snarky and "bitchy" comments out.

In the individual auditions, we had to pair up with someone else and perform 3 tasks. The first task is to recite a monologue, I did a little bit of improv which I now regret having done, they might have been looking at how well you can follow the script, but my improv might have worked against me and made it seem like I had trouble remembering the exact script, but I cross my fingers and hope for the best. The second task is to act out a scene, the topic was given by my judges, my partner and I received "Stealing", so we acted out a scene where I, the thief, got caught by my partner the policeman. The third part was singing. Yep, singing. I was so incredibly shocked because I've never sung infront of anyone else before in my life, and I'm pretty sure I sound awful. But the judges seemed to like it, so maybe I didn't do that badly.

I shall end off this post because I've got homework to complete. I'm not even gonna mention how incredibly talented the other auditionees are, they all seem as though they've done a fair bit of acting. Gosh, while I, I'm completely new to acting ! I shall now depart to wallow in my depression. Farewell
